See Yourself In The Picture
Join
us as we strive to maximize opportunities for Jews in the Greater
Taunton Area to participate in Jewish communal life.
Why not be a part of our work to live up to God's call to "be a light to
the nations." Moving into the 21st century, you, too, could engage the
centuries-old vast Jewish moral, spiritual and philosophical tradition,
undergirded by the profound teachings of Torah (study), Avodah
(worship), and Gemilut Hasadim (behaving righteously).
Come find your place in a Family of Friends and become part of a
community providing meaningful worship services, strong religious
education, community mitzvah projects and opportunities for fostering
Jewish friendships and social life.
We've changed as the world changed. Originating as an Orthodox
congregation in the early 1900's, with women sitting in the balcony,
transitioning to being a part of the Conservative movement, and now an
unaffiliated Jewish congregation addressing the current trends in Jewish
family life -- we welcome people from diverse Jewish backgrounds to
participate in maintaining and building a strong Jewish presence in the
center of southeastern Massachusetts.Our Leadership
Rabbi/Cantor Anne Heath
Rabbi/Cantor Heath was ordained rabbi by The Academy for Jewish
Religion in New York (Riverdale -The Bronx) in 2007. She received
Cantorial Certification from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of
Religion School of Sacred Music in 2000. She began serving our
congregation in June 2003 while still in rabbinical school. She serves
as rabbi, cantor, school principal, and program director.
Cantorial Soloist
Margaret Burton
Returning for her fourth High Holy Day season, Cantorial Soloist
Burton brings her talented vocal skills from Minneapolis to Taunton,
joining Rabbi/Cantor Heath in leading Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
services. She not only sings beautifully, she also chants Torah and
blows shofar. She instructs our children in this ancient art, inviting
them to join her from out balcony to form a shofar choir at the end of
services.
Our lay leaders include:
- Board President - Joyce Antine
- Board Chairperson - Mija Almeida
- Religious School Chairperson - Lauren Coelho
