Purim Pandemonium An
Overwhelming Success
TAUNTON, Mass. Mar 12, 2006
The "First Annual" Purim Pandemonium Talent Show and Dinner held at the Jewish Community House in Taunton was an overwhelming success. A
shushan marketplace showcased the artisanry and talent of a number of congregation members.
The guests were first treated to a wonderful family style dinner by Ross Chartoff and Associates, caterers
extraordinaire!
Laine Carter did a great job as mistress of ceremonies and the Agudath Achim Players opened the evening by performing
a Purim schpiel play that was hilarious and kept the audience amused the entire time. The players received a standing ovation from the
delighted crowd. The players included Linda Forman, Mija Almeida, Marc Antine, Eli Cushner, Tom Hoder, Marsha Nehiley, Kathy Novick, Sherman
Price and Jonathan Sisskind.
The talent show portion of the evening was absolutely fantastic. Eli Cushner amazed us throughout the night
with his slight of hand and "how'd he do that" magic. Samara Lampert showcased her beautiful voice with a song by Jewel. Juliette
Sallaway and Jeremy Novick were outstanding performing a scene from Guys & Dolls that made the audience feel like they were right there on 42nd
street! Cantor Heath belted out a few classics with her blue feather boa in tow! Our congregation should be very proud of the talented
teens (I include Cantor Heath among them) in our midst. Just think, we all knew them when...
Great thanks to all who worked hard to make this a wonderful evening and special thanks to Phyllis Rubin for making
the whole thing work.
The Dinner Committee included Ross Chartoff, Marc Antine, Peter Antine, Gerald Boyar, Michael Peckman, Joe Plunkett,
Elliott Slom, Michael St. Don, David Wolsky, & Andrea Chartoff (the spice cake and brownies were out of this world!!).
Jessican Chartoff Texeira & Ronnie Zusman directed and produced the talent show and Purim Shpiel.
Meg Antine, Sharon Cushner, and Kathy Novick were responsible for the evening's arrangements.
Max Cushner did a great job handling the stage crew duties.
Special thanks to Advanced Lighting and Production Services for lighting equipment, Dramatic Sound for sound
equipment, and Michael Texeira for additional sound equipment and setting it all up.
The marketplace artisans included Meg Antine, Andrea Chartoff, Laura Klein Plunkett, David Rubin, & Phyllis Rubin. |
