There are times when we have hopes…and they remain hopes.
There are times when we have dreams…and they never become a reality.
There are times when we have aspirations…and they never become achievements.
This is not one of those times.
Please join our congregation in welcoming David Wluka, the son of a Holocaust survivor and the organizer of an effort to reclaim a Jewish Cemetery in his father’s hometown of Nowy Dwor in Poland. David will share a presentation about the history of the town during the Holocaust, his work in restoring its cemetery, and the impact the project has had in Poland and beyond.
Appropriate for all ages grade 4 and up.
A light lunch will be served following David’s talk.
As a reminder, please park on the street and not in the church lot.
The Nowy Dwor Jewish Memorial project, founded by direct descendants of Nowy Dwor Jews, has been working since 2011 to restore the desecrated Jewish cemetery in Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki, Poland. Thanks to the generosity of people worldwide and assistance of the City of Nowy Dwor, the project reclaimed the cemetery in July 0f 2011. In May of 2014 a memorial (Yarzheit) wall was dedicated for those who died in the Holocaust with no graves. The project also initiated a tolerance essay contest & dialogue program in the local schools.
