Or perhaps you had one, but now feel ready for a more meaningful, mature experience?
Join a group of peers to deepen your knowledge of — and relationship with — Torah and prayer! Opportunities are available for both individual and group celebrations, to take place in late spring 2026.
Like the celebration itself, preparation may look different for different participants.
To help you “level up” your comfort with the Shabbat morning service, Reb Josh is teaching a class on The Practice and Meaning of Jewish Prayer beginning late fall 2025. This class explores a different prayer every week, providing an opportunity to practice reading and singing/chanting the prayer, along with some learning and discussion of the prayer’s deeper meanings. Read more about this class.
For those desiring to brush up on their Hebrew, Reb Josh is teaching a Basic Hebrew Reading class on Sunday mornings. Some students have indicated that they can’t meet on Sunday mornings, so there is now also a remote/asynchronous to accommodate them. Reach out to Reb Josh at to join this class. A class on Chanting the Hebrew Bible will begin in ealry 2026, in which you will learn to decode the cantillation symbols, or “trope,” that determine the melodies of Torah, Hafrtarah, and Megilah reading, and prepare a passage to read from the Torah. It’s not as hard as it sounds! Schedule TBD.
At that point we will also begin learning how to research and give a D’var Torah — a teaching on the weekly portion of your B’Mitzvah day!
If you can’t make it to all the classes, or missed the start, do not despair!
Depending on your current skills and your goals, you may be able to join the B’Mitzvah cohort as late as the end of December.
